Dumb Fun
The problem is, however, that you have all the
questions and I haven’t heard them yet.
This post is a rip off of
QT Mama, who ripped it off of
Mid Life Mommy, who admitted
she ripped it off from someone else. So as far
as I’m concerned the idea is now firmly in the
public domain. So what am I talking about?
Well, I’m talking about the first ever “Readers can
ask Depot Dad anything they want” post. Ask your
questions in the comments below. I will answer all of
them. Ask me personal questions, I’ll answer. Ask me
for advice, I’ll tell you what to do. Ask me for some
spare change, I’ll tell you where to go.

I think it is important to know who your heroes are.
Here is a collection of portraits of people who have
influenced me, inspired me, humbled me and helped me
become the person I am today. They are just all
around awesome. The curious thing, of course, is that
I have not met any of them personally. I only know
them through the power of their creative output. It
is
so important to do creative work in your
life. I’ll periodically add more as I think of them.
See how many you recognize on sight before you click
them to link to Wikipedia articles.

Okay, just a little fluff today (now updated with
links). Maybe you’ve seen these, or maybe I can
introduce you to something new. All I can say is that
I know for a fact that I’ve seen each of these films
at least ten times and I could watch any of them
again tonight. They are awesome! I’m not saying all
of these are GREAT films. I’m just saying I have an
affection for them. Forgive the quality of these
screenshots, they were all hastily grabbed from
YouTube. In no particular order....

I’ve been blogging for two years now, and in that
time, I’ve gotten to know many other single parent
bloggers. I don’t doubt that they make up a large
portion of my readership too. I don’t think adding a
blog roll here is necessarily going to do much in the
way of introducing readers to blogs they don’t
already know about, but I thought it was high time
that these people knew what I really thought of them
and why I read them. So without further ado, here are
the blogs Depot Dad checks regularly.

Two days ago, a photographer from the Marin IJ
newspaper stopped by to shoot some pics of me with
Oliver and Amélie. I’m still not exactly sure why,
but it may have to do with an article that will be
appearing in the IJ’s Sunday magazing section called
“here.” And, I think it is going to appear around
Father’s day. I’d like to offer this post to any new
readers who happened upon this site via that article,
or for returning visitors who might like a review of
the happenings around here.
I’d also like to let readers know that I’ve finally
made a category list at the bottom of the right hand
column for readers who would like to browse blog
entries by category.
If you are new here, welcome.
I am a single father of two children living in
Novato, CA. I started this blog in June of 2008 as a
way of documenting my changing life into the world of
part time single parenting. Shortly thereafter i was
diagnosed with advanced melanoma and the blog quickly
evolved into a record of my experiences of living
with cancer. Through the miracle of modern medicine,
I am still around pondering the meaning of the
universe, drawing comics for my children and trying
to get a date.
If you would like to see some comics I made for my
children, you can go
here.
If you would like to hear and see me tell my favorite
stories, you can click
here.
If you would like to review my list (so far) of one
hundred things that make me happy (I call Depot
Bells) click
here.
If you would like to friend me on Facebook, you can
go
here.
A chronological archive of my previous posts is
located at the very bottom of the right hand column.
I’ll be returning to more regular blog posts very
soon. The best is yet to come.
